add insulin dose calculation based on fat
Hi Gordon,
Firstly, thanks for creating such a great app. It's exactly what I was looking for and love how easy it is to use despite there being lot's of features, which can make some apps a painful user experience. Even some of the other apps that are less complex seem to make it harder to use.
Anyway, I'd love to see the ability to calculate bolus based on fat intake. Mainstream diabetes centres around carbohydrates as raising blood sugar and indeed carbohydrates do have a signficant impact. However fat also raises blood sugar, much more slowly and for a much longer time. That is why I am a low carb eater and most of my dietary intake is through protein and fat. I need to calculate bolus based on fat, but it does not seem to be available in the app?
Of course it is a tricky thing to add because fast acting insulin has a working profile of 3-5 hours and does not cover the fat digestion period very well. I use regular insulin (5-8 hour profile) to cover the fat intake, so there would probably need to be a different "low carb" mode in the app or something. I still take on carbohydrates, but they are in vegetable and very low GI form. This mode would not work if I ate 12g of carbs in a cake, as opposed to 12g in vegetable.
Anyway thanks for creating this. It really helps.
