Calculate amount of insulin on board and ask if you want to adjust correction bolus
I like the warning, but it would be helpful if it calculated how much insulin is remaining and even how big a drop in bg should be expected. Warn upon save and offer to adjust the correction units appropriately.

This could get hairy, because it requires an understanding of insulin profiles, and, as a warning, an understanding of the user's specific insulin profile, since it WILL be different than the published profile (and that is an average of several people, I might add.) Insulin profiles have a few factors to consider: Onset, Peak and Time of activity. That requires a single patient study, I'm afraid. I'm looking into how to do this, now that I've started using a CGM.

It is not an issue for me, I very seldom want to bolus again whilst I have IOB. But my InsulinX meter has a bolus calculator.and its manual shows the graph they use to calculate IOB and a reference to the original work.

As a temporary idea, if the user is a pump user then why not have a box for remaining IOB from pump then subtract that from any calculations.

This is very similar to my suggestion of using two points to predict at some time in the future.
You don't need to calculate the amount of insulin for a pump or anything like that....just take the slope from two points (better if at least half hour after meal/BG reading ie past the curved turning point and back into the linear part of the graph) and predict BG by time. This could be a small-print table beneath the "hrs of insulin on board" and/or dotted line on the graph. Headings could be time, hours from now, predicted BG. The "hours from now" could (by default) be every 30 minutes. For example, this new table could show BG dropping past the target zone at 2.5 hours from now. Another way to do this with a dotted line on the graph could be labelled or could set up to tap on dotted prediction line to display time, hours from now and predicted BG
